Avionos employees are always looking to develop as employees and human beings, and are willing to put in the work to foster their own development. Each position presents its own challenges, and our team of business analysts are no strangers to the rewards of finding unique client solutions. Business analysts research, analyze, and define business and user needs; identify options for improving business systems and processes; and bridge the needs of the business and IT through the analysis and communication of requirements. Ever-changing methods of data capture create a dynamic landscape with continuous learning opportunity. Interested in learning more? Meet Amey Shivapurkar, senior business analyst at Avionos. As a BA, Amey builds development strategies for customer engagement; resolves business problems; and works closely with clients to understand, oversee, and guide project delivery. Amey took a moment to talk about his career, the future of the field, and why he joined the #ATeam.
Why did you want to be a business analyst?
I get to learn something new almost every day. I also like to find ways to streamline processes and I like to work with people. As a BA I get to work with multiple stakeholders and analyze people, process, and technology to develop a solution that helps the client achieve their business objectives. It is a challenging puzzle but so rewarding when you get to the end.
What made you want to join the A-Team at Avionos?
The ability to be an integral part of building Avionos’s Experience Optimization and Analytics team. I spent my entire career with “big-box” consulting firms and they typically lack any new growth opportunities to be part of. At Avionos, if you see an opportunity or a place where you can really add value, then they provide resources and support to let you run with it and see what you are made of. Not only are you building something new, but it is also more agile and innovative because of the pace we can move. That was definitely an enticing opportunity that I could not pass up.
How has Avionos helped you progress in your career?
Avionos has helped me get out of my comfort zone and be challenged in ways that enabled me to learn multiple domains, to experience more client-facing roles, and to be exposed to more internal business development activities of a smaller company. I think that is all extremely valuable experience I could not have all gotten at my level in any big-box consulting firm at my level. Additionally, Avionos helped me get my certification in Adobe Analytics and become more marketable to clients so that was a win too.
What projects have you enjoyed most over the course of your career?
The projects I have enjoyed the most are the ones where we can show a huge impact just from a change in process. To be part of a weekly client leadership meeting where they completely dump their decision making process in favor of the automated weekly analytics report we recommended is one of the most rewarding feelings as a BA. It is hard to get leadership to completely buy in and when they do you know you have clearly demonstrated value.
What excites you about the future of your field?
The amount of solutions hitting the market that is enabling business teams to take more control of owning and maintaining their digital products. The granularity of data we are able to capture is growing every day and we are starting to use this data to completely automate the decision making process and actually make any required development changes without any manual intervention required. As a BA, creating these type of solutions is more interesting, much faster, and a whole lot easier to show added value.
What does a typical day in your job look like?
I do not think there is a “typical day” at Avionos and that is why I like it. My day can vary from being more client-focused to running demos or presentations for new business development to learning about the latest analytics or experience optimization capabilities that we can deliver to existing and future clients. The path is not set in stone here, so there is always something new and exciting to take part in. The pace and speed at which we are able to move at Avionos allows us to accomplish a variety of things in relatively quick time. The people are great too, so it keeps things fun along the way.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
Keep trying to learn and become better and more efficient at work every day. There are new solutions in this field every day, so the more you get comfortable with being uncomfortable the stronger you will be in adjusting to the changes and staying ahead of the competition.
