Hear from Sary Navarrete on her role as a Lead QA Analyst in Bogota:

Give me a brief background on your career, where you’re from, and your favorite way to spend your time outside of work:

I’ve been working as a QA Analyst for about 10 years now. I have had the opportunity to work for amazing development companies, most of them located in the United States.

Throughout my experience I have grown to be technical and professional thanks to all the wonderful people I work with.

Technically, I have developed skills on FE Automation with Cypress, which is a tool created specifically for FE end. Also, I’ve worked closely with HTML and Accessibly (A11y) testing additional to the regular skills that a QA should have.

Outside of work I have a 4-year-old son, so I love to spend time with him as much as I can! As soon as I close my laptop, our favorite plan for the day is watching Disney channel and watching movies together. On the weekends, we usually go to the park in the morning and have lunch in the afternoon with my family and husband.

Why did you want to work as a QA?

It was a stroke of luck! It all started with the fact that I spoke English, which gave me exposure to some training in basic topics related to the discipline. As time went on, I got very passionate about the area, so I began to look for more information and immersed myself in self-studies. I really love what I do, and I feel proud to have the chance to work in this industry that makes my heart full and happy.

What drew you to joining the ATeam?

I was looking for growth. I needed to reach a new level in my career and Avionos gave me that chance to prove I had all the capabilities needed to get me to where I’m today. Working with the ATeam was not only a new job for me, but also another step in my career journey.

What excited you about your work at Avionos?

I was excited to start a new team and grow in a new area. I knew I was going to be a part of something big for Avionos…. the QA area!

What is the proudest moment of your career?

My proudest moment was gaining certification on A11y , which is short for website and accessibility, and being promoted to the leader of my QA team.

What skills do you think help you succeed the most at Avionos?

Discipline and passion for what I do.

What’s the best way to start your work day?

I like to start my work day with a solid breakfast and go over my tasks for the day before all the teams begin work.

Where do you see yourself as a QA in the future?

I see myself being the head of my team and mentoring new people in this field that I Iove. I see myself having the opportunity to help new hires grow up as professionals while sharing my knowledge with them.

What advice would you give to someone just starting as a QA or more generally just starting at Avionos?

Be passionate about what you do! I would also advise to engage in self-learning to improve your skills, speak up to reach your goals, trust your team, and always ask for help when needed! Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
