Do you know the path to delivering world-class digital solutions? Hint: it’s not as obvious as it seems. Luckily, we have highly experienced Project Managers who get ahead and create the map for our clients to reach their unique goals.. Project Managers serve as a digital ambassador, consulting on the implementation of digital projects, and planning, managing, and executing projects according to predetermined timelines and budgets. Additionally, they serve as the primary point of contact between the internal project team and the client, while managing complex project implementations. Senior Project Manager David Price is no stranger when it comes to ensuring client satisfaction and delivering results. Meet David here:
Why did you want to be a project manager?
I’ve had the opportunity to work in a large international bank, run my own consulting firm as well as working with a number of leading consulting firms. They have all provided me the opportunity to find the optimal solution that involves time, budget and risk.
What made you want to join the A-Team at Avionos?
My first post-college job was a great firm with four employees. I then went to an international firm with 110,000 in 63 countries. I find the A-Team a great balance: large enough for growth and opportunity but nimble enough that I can have positive impact to clients and Avionos.
How has Avionos helped you progress in your career?
Every company says they are transparent. At Avionos that means I have an immediate understanding of how to create a project team that delights the client while being fiscally appropriate. The only other time I had this level of information is when I ran my own firm.
What projects have you enjoyed most over the course of your career?
My first project at Avionos was a global firm that was re-platform their CMS solution. The company has 91,000 employees in 80 countries. The ability to have such wide-ranging impact is compelling. Every single project I’ve worked on at Avionos has been impact for clients. Whether it is rolling out a B2B, B2C, or CMS solution, all of these projects are critical to the client and of course to Avionos.
What excites you about the future of your field?
Commerce and content solutions, paired with analytics, continues to drive compelling customer experiences. Companies evolve their website from brochureware to personalized, compelling experiences. Commerce sites re-define what best in class means. Being able to support companies on their customer journeys is personally satisfying.
What does a typical day in your job look like?
If you like a stable schedule, being a Project Manager is not for you. In addition to the daily meetings with developers to measure progress and remove roadblocks, you are also supporting the client. Sometimes that means creating a deck to summarize project status or the project roadmap. Sometimes it is determining to accelerate a new feature based on changing business priorities. Layered over all of this are discovery sessions with business stakeholders.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
You need to be working ahead to make sure that you have the time to respond to whatever comes up, because it will.
